California Poppy Collection
The poppies show up for about four weeks every spring. Late March through April, sometimes early May if the rain cooperated. They turn the foothills the color of a school-bus emergency exit. Eschscholzia californica: the state flower, on highway shoulders, in front yards, in the hills above Auburn and Penn Valley and the road into Coloma. Pull over, you'll see them.
This collection runs year-round, because by the time you remember the poppies are blooming, they're already gone. Tees, totes, tumblers, leggings, the occasional swim trunk. Built to keep the bloom going past April.
